#96 “I want draw fish.”

Drawing is what she loves doing most and as we wrap up our Fish theme, I requested if she can draw a fish with a tail, fins and scales; and her reply was an instant: “Ok, I want draw fish.” And so fish she drew đŸ™‚

 Can you see its eyes?

Moving on to fins now …

And what a long tail the fish has!

Adding small pink fishes.

#95 Baby animals; Mummy animals

When we were reading “Big Fish, Little Fish” earlier today, the little babe said: “Mommy, this is baby fish; this is mommy fish” as she pointed to the respective fishes on the cover of the book. After reading the book, I got her to view this interesting video: “The Farmyard Jamboree”. We definitely had a great time making the animal noises.

As a follow-up activity, we had a matching activity – Matching baby animals to their parents. Of course animal sounds were included ;p

#94 Of Tails, Fins & Scales

#94 Through our readings and the various fishy activities that we have been doing so far, the little babe has been introduced to a fish’s basic parts such as the eye, tail, fins and scales.
In this activity, I have prepared cut-out bodies of fish from colourful construction papers. With only eyes included, this activity required the little babe to include the fishes’ tails, fins and scales.

The first part of the activity had the little babe paint her palm/s with the colour of her choice before printing her coloured palm as the fishes’ tails and/or fins.

The fishes were then left to dry.

The second part of the activity then saw the little babe adding ‘scales’ to the fishes’ bodies by finger printing.

#92 Drawing Fish

#92 Drawing Fish

What she loves doing! She’ll help herself to the drawing table whenever she feels like drawing. She started out drawing fish with a very big circle … which initially looked like a balloon to me. Recently, she has been seen adding eyes to the fishes she draw. I am impressed that she can control her fingers to draw a tiny circle within a big circle.

#91 Pegging

#91 Pegging
Bought this at ELC quite some time ago. The colourful pictures are great platforms for conversations with the little ones. In addition to refining the child’s fine motor skills, this pegging exercise is also a good colour reinforcement activity.

#89 Teddy Bears and Round Stickers

#89 Teddy Bears and Round Stickers

After several rounds of arranging the teddies below their respective coloured bean bags, I thought it will be interesting to create a new ‘game’ using the teddies. That led me to create a sticker game board for her. On a white drawing paper, I placed stickers (of the four colours) at random before laminating the whole ‘board’. An easy peasy game with the teddies – placing each teddy on the sticker of the same colour; and at the same time naming the colour of the teddy that is in her tiny hand.

#88 Big Triangle, Small Triangle

#88 Big Triangle, Small Triangle

In our first session, I’d call out for a particular triangle e.g.: “I want a red triangle.” And she’d get the red big triangle and the red small triangle and hand them over to me.

As for our second session, she was asked to choose which set of triangles she wanted i.e the big triangles or the small triangles and she chose the former. I would then place a small triangle and she’d get it’s matching triangle from her set and place it next to the small triangle.

#87 Free Play-Water Play with the fishes

#87 Free Play – Water Play with the fishes

The little babe got to play with the her various fishes during this particular water play. Mommy’s attempt to get her to engage in pretend/imaginative play with the sea creatures.

In addition to naming the sea creatures, the little babe also started to differentiate the sizes of some of them on her own e.g.: big turtle and small turtle, big octopus and small octopus etc.
